Recently I had the opportunity to visit the Titan Missile Museum in Green Valley, Arizona (not far from Tucson) -- quite an interesting tour if you ever get the opportunity. I may post a photo album of it sometime.... we'll see.
At any rate, one of my little recently re-acquired habits is to try and have a pencil and paper with me at all times, to jot down useful ideas, things to remember, tasks I need to take care of (to get them out of my head), and quotes, etc. Cleaning up my desk this evening, I just came across the notes I took from the video, which gave an overview of the Titan missile program, and the fundamental idea / strategy behind it -- "Peace through deterrence."
This quote in particular, seemed applicable to more things than just Cold War politics:
"Peace is never fully won; it is only kept from moment to moment."
